grouping of data before going for approval

We have client rquirement as below
1.Requester can select multiple eDir groups in request form.
2.Each group has owner defined. The relation of owner group can be one to many.

Ex;Say requester has selected Group1, Group2, Group3, Group4, Group5
Group1, Group2, Group3 ---> owner is mike
Group4, Group5 ---> owner is john
3.There should be single request for mike and in the approver form it should show only those groups which he is owner for

I want to iterate on start workflow to call another workflow for group owner approval. But how to do grouping of data before passing it to sub process? can I use Hashmap to set the data into flowdata?Any other ideas to accomplish this?

DHCP request fails after Imaging

Hi,
I´m new to this forums but I could really use your help.

I´m currently trying to prepare an image with integrated ZCM-Client for a new series of pc´s. I tried to follow the tutorials and hints around here, but still couldn´t find a solution to one specific problem:

After deploying the newly created image via ZENworks to a clean workstation, the workstation won´t get an ip-address by dhcp so that it´s only possible to log in locally. If I manually fill in a static address everything works fine. I further tried to do a pxe boot to determine whether or not the network card is broken, but this time successfully got an ip-adress. So I rebooted and tried to log in again, same problem as before... By now tried to deactivate/activate the device, applied new drivers and deinstalled/installed tcp/ip but nothing changed.

It’s interesting that, when I deployed the exact image to a virtual machine (vmware), the nic problem didn´t occur.

Here is what I did to prepare the image:
- Installed Windows XP SP3 incl. Updates
- Installed ZfD-Client
- Installed Applications
- Installed ZCM-Client
- zac fsg –d
- ran ziswin.exe (clear image safe data, save, just image setting: no)
- deleted local guid backup files
- created image with ZENworks after a reboot

Btw. the same problem occurred when I tried to prepare the image by installing the ZCM-Client without ZfD-Client being installed first. In that case the workstation I used to prepare the image wasn’t able to get a dynamic ip-address either.

Thanks in advance

Installing WinSP1/2 on win2003 server running Zen 6.5

Due to security issues, we need to update the Windows 2003 Server running ZDM 6.5SP1 (6.5.1.50211) & eDirectory for NT v8.7[DS].
Is there any issues with ZenWorks by installing either Windows Server SP1 or SP2?

Generic hostname resolution and generic ip geolocation srv

Hi,

We have some problems with the new 6.1 Javascript collectors. We've installed some of them and we've encountered some problems:

1. Generic Hostname resolution service: We are facing performance issues with the IP to hostname resolution, if we enable it the EPS drops down to a maximum of 10 on the collector which uses the resolution service.

2. Generic IP geolocation service: the documentation of the new collectors tells me to download this collector from Novell's site, but I didn't find it. Is there an official or unofficial version of this collector?

3. Where can we download unofficial collectors? We had an e-mail contact collectorinfo@novell.com , but havent received any reply ever.

Thank you for the reply

"PlateSpin PowerConvert configuration Service" don't start

The situation

1 virtual center Vmware 2.5.0
1 ESX 3.5 Update 4.0
1 Platespin Portability suite 8.1.1
1 Virtual machine with synchronisation schedule

During a Platespin restore test.

The Platespin job stay in a WAIT STATUS ( require user intervention).

On Virtual Machine managed by the virtual center, the "PlateSpin PowerConvert configuration Service" was not started (but in status automatic)

For us the only solution, is take a session on the Virtual Machine and start the "PlateSpin PowerConvert configuration Service" and after the Platespin job continue.

We need use a local administrator user for this opération.

Password Synchronisation 1.0 on 64-bit W2K3

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 10 hours 38 min ago
Hi,
I know this is probably impossible to answer because this product is unsupported.

I have been asked by our AD team to look at a problem they are having installing password sync on a couple of 64-bit W2K3 servers.
They tried on 2 new servers and got two different results, the installs were launched from the password sync control panel on the RL server:
Server 1 - error message "error occurred while writing to the registry (2) The system cannot find the file specified"
Server 2 - Installs but status remains "Installed - needs reboot" after several reboots.

I realise that this might be a step too far trying to install pwdsync 1.0 on 64-bit servers but we don't control the link to AD it is managed by a team in the US.
I run IDM 3.5.1 in Europe for a portal which is used by external users, but the US are still running IDM 2.0 and password sync 1.0 for synchronisation between AD and the eDirectory LDAP for the worldwide portal for internal users.
The European AD domain is a child of the worldwide AD. So the questions I have are:
  1. I know it is not supported by Novell but is it possible to successfully install pwdsync 1.0 on 64-bit DCs?
  2. If the above cannot be done, is it possible for us to upgrade pwdsync only on the European domain servers? Would pwdsync 2.0 be sufficient to get a working 64-bit DC?
  3. If we cannot install pwdsync on these 64-bit DCs how will that impact pwdsync for the European domain?

Thanks for any help that can be provided.

Regards
Mark

SLES10-SP2 Upgrade to SP3 Preparation

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 23 November 2009 - 9:36pm
I am getting ready to upgrade from SLES10-SP2 to SP3 via booting into the SP3 DVD and choosing "Upgrade." The reason why I am using the DVD is because I do not have an update channel available to me in YaST "Online Update."

Before upgrading, to avoid issues with "Configured Software Catalogs", should I delete my "SLES10-SP2p-Pool" and "SLES10-SP2-Updates" software catalogs ? Or will the upgrade to SP3 replace the SP2 catalogs?

Thanks.

-Mike
