Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 23 November 2009 - 9:31am
Is SLES10 SP3 and OES SP2 an officially supported platform for ZCM10.2.1 ? If not, when will it be, 10.2.2?

VRDIM Error

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 23 November 2009 - 9:07am
Current environment is two Red Hat Linux servers running eDirectory 8.8.2 and IDM 3.5.1. I am planning to upgrade and change OS so I have added a new server to this environment running SLES 10 sp2, eDirectory 8.8.5 and IDM 3.6.1. I am trying to migrate my drivers from my two older systems to the new server. The migration process seems to work just fine following the documentation however when I try to start up the driver on the new server I get the following:

com.novell.admin.common.exceptions.UniqueSPIExcept ion: (Error -783) The DirXML Interface Module (VRDIM) is not currently loaded into NetWare or into DHost.

I ran an ndstrace -c modules and I see that vrdim is running. I have tried restarting ndsd as well as manually unloading and reloading the vrdim module. Still unable to start the drivers.

I have tried creating a brand new driver on the new server as well and cannot even get that driver to start running. Any thoughts on what could be going wrong?

Bad Request

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 23 November 2009 - 8:53am
Using Access Manager 3 - a secure website intermittently throws a "<h1>Bad Request</h1>" error.

The file served is a .JS file and is 55Kb. The web server is IIS6 which logs the bad request in the errorlog file. The webserver is dedicated to serving javascript files only.

When the file name served is changed, the error disappears for a time - only to return in a few days. This indicated caching might be involved. Also, differenct users may be affected differently.

All browsers are affected.

We are a small educational establishment without the expertise in-house to address this problem so any ideas or suggestions would be welcome. Please also ask any questions were clarification needed.

Kind regards,

Mike

Failed to process launch in user space

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 23 November 2009 - 8:52am

Dreadful performance from NW6.5 server

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 23 November 2009 - 8:48am
6.5.7

We have 1 NW box that seems to have developed a problem. Copying files to or from the system results in dreadful trhoughput.

The machine is on a VMware ESX cluster and no other system seems to be affected.

The machine has 3GB of ram but the strangest thing of all is that if the swap file is turned on the system seems to swap straight to disk untill the swap is at 99% of all available memory.

throughput is Something like 1Mb/s through a 1Gb link.

I have built a new server to replace this one but we need to get the ZEN workstation Images off and it's taking forever even with the consolidation utility.

Restrict access to a user only

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 23 November 2009 - 8:29am
I'm assuming this can be done, but not sure the best/easiest way to do this.

If i need to restrict access to a proxy so that only a specific user (or in this case, TWO users), how to do that?

I really hate to create a group for two users, but was wondering if there's a way to do this just for the user object itself?

Test app

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 23 November 2009 - 8:26am
Should the server at http://137.65.15.37:7191/soap respond to request as suggested in the documentation? I continue to get connection failures using any form of test application so I'd like to be certain that Novell is still actually supporting that url.

copying proxy services?

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 23 November 2009 - 8:16am
I don't suppose that there's a way to copy proxy services from one lag cluster to another?

Just figured I'd save myself some time.

But I didn't see an import/export option for just the proxy services.

Error launching "xxxx.EXE null". Windows error:

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 23 November 2009 - 8:03am
Hi,

on several bundles, mostly imported from ZEN 7 through the Migration tool, I receive the following error message :
Quote: "Error launching "xxxx.EXE null". Windows error: The system cannot find the file specified" Where xxxx.exe stands for my application name, located on a server.

My bundle just has to launch it. (no install), and the file is available for everyone.
The problem resides in the NULL. I don't know where it does come from.
And even if I retype the full path correctly, it seems to resides in the cache.

Does anyone encountered this before?

...We are using ZCM 10.2.

GroupWise POA OES2 Linux

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 23 November 2009 - 8:02am
I have just gone through the process of Migrating my GW system, from NW to OES2, and then upgraded from version 7.x -> 8.x however now I am having some weird issues. The POA will load, but immediately unload when I load the GUI screen it gives the following error message

"TCP/IP port already in use (8555). Port Specified:1677 [OK] not sure what happened.

When I check in C1 things look correct, and I have gone into the GWHA.Conf and though there were a few additional items, which I have remarked out, nothing seems to really jump out at me.

What would cause the 8555 error?

Opened Port list

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 23 November 2009 - 7:55am
Hi,

I need to have a list of ports that are opened on my sles10 system. I used the GUI of SUseFirewall but I only get the names of the services associated with those port. What I need is a numeric list of all the ports that are opened on the firewall.

Anyone can give me a hint?

iptables -L -v doesn't give the port list I need.

Question about increment the version number

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 23 November 2009 - 7:52am
I am running ZCM 10 SP2. When I increment the version on the bundle, the launch action for each device or each user that login on the device gets run again.

A few times NTS told me to increment the version number when troubleshooting a bundle. If the ZCM agent has the older version of the bundle, does it run the install and launch actions again? If that is the case, that means if I increment the bundle version number and this will reinstall the bundle on over 500 devices?

Server Volume Not Accessible

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 23 November 2009 - 7:46am
Hello;

I hope someone can help me...I'm the new guy! :)

OES2. Using FIREFOX to access NRM. While NRM is open and connected, the /var/log/messages folder get bombarded with these types of messages that constantly flood every second with HTTP errors beginning on Nov 6 7:34 am and continuing to Nov 8 10:30 am before the server was rebooted. About 10 meg of error messages were generated during the 3 days span.

Further investigation revealed that the HTTP error was generated
by the use of Firefox browser to access NRM.

I was able to reproduce the same error using Firefox. The http
error stop as soon as I exited out from NRM.

Note, the above HTTP error maybe a factor into why the server
volume was not accessable.

Thanks in advance!

Migrating NSS trustees from one cluster volume to another

Novell Support Forums - New Posts - 23 November 2009 - 7:08am
Hi everyone,

I'm currently in a situation where we are migrating from one SAN to another in an OES2sp1 x86_64 environment. The old iscsi SAN is still connected and in production. The new SAN is connected and we want to migrate the data from the old volumes to the new ones.

The problem, how can we transfer data from one to another clustered nss volume including the appropriate rights? I'm pulling my hair out on this one.

Thanks for your help!

Justin Zandbergen
