GPTrustee

There are plenty of file system trustee backup mechanisms for both NetWare and OES2 Linux, but they all hurt my brain. Sure, XML is great and who doesn't love Linux but I wanted a simple Windows app that could read the trustees from a volume hosted by either NetWare or OES2 Linux, would store the results in a human readable and modifiable format, and which I could use to restore said trustees to a volume hosted by either NetWare or OES2 Linux. This is the app I came up with.

To Stub or Not to Stub … and What to Stub?!

Last week, we discussed the much maligned and misrepresented concept of stubbing. If you read that post, you learned that when used properly, stubbing can reduce the size of your mailbox store, thus improving the performance of your live mail system and reducing backup time. So, what does “used properly” really mean? Read more.

How to run the GroupWise 8 View Designer with the SP1 Client Installed

Ed Hanley released the GroupWise 8 View Designer back in january 2009. Great work, Ed!

This one works only with the GW 8.0.0 Client and works from the GroupWise client directory (you copy the View Designer files to the GW 8.0.0 Client directory, as Ed describes in the install instructions).

You've installed the GW 8.0.1 Client (GW8 SP1).
Now what?

The Downsides of Stubbing (And When You Should Ignore Them)

Because of its introduction in GroupWise 8, stubbing is getting a lot of attention. The idea behind stubbing is to display email in a user's inbox, but have the actual email content reside outside the email server. The benefit is that you get to keep your messaging system relatively streamlined, but still give users easy access to those stored messages.

Sounds pretty good, right? Well, a bit of Googling may have you questioning the value of stubbing. But, there's nothing like a bit of good, old-fashioned logic to put the naysayers in their place. Read more.
