A sophisticated page description language, widely used in desktop publishing, that is used for printing high-quality text and graphics on laser printers and other high-resolution printing devices. When an application program equipped with a PostScript print driver is used, the program generates the PostScript code that goes to the printer. For most users, PostScript is invisible and automatic.
